A Little Help?

What I need is a web-based calendar for use on our church web site. It needs to have the standard stuff like repeating entries, categories, multi-user support, etc. Nice-to-haves would include stuff like RSS feed support and capability to export into various formats like iCal and Palm.

The thing that I really want but can’t find is the ability to assign/manage resources. For instance, if someone reserves a classroom and needs a projector then I want to be able to assign that room and that projector to the date/time specified in the calendar. Ideally I’d like to be able to view by resource as well so that I could see who has the church van scheduled for the upcoming week, for instance.

This is almost getting into facilities management and I don’t know if I can find what I’m looking for the price I want to pay - $0. Ok, I can pay a little more than that but not the thousands that some of these packages cost.

Any thoughts?

Oops, didn’t read your post all the way - I don’t think this calendar handles resource management.

Gee can you guess that I’m just a wee bit bored at the moment…
Here’s a resource scheduling calendar that the author wrote for facilities management. Exactly what you’re after but looks quite robust and is not suitable as something like an events calendar.

Seriously, thanks for taking the time to go searching for these. The phpScheduleit looks like a cool piece of software but like you said, it’s not as well suited for simple event scheduling, which is what I need as well.

I had actually looked at Webcalendar and written it off for the same reasons you mention. But, I followed your link anyway and found something in the documentation that may do the trick. It looks like you can add you own custom fields for any event. So it looks like I should be able to add some check boxes for the various resources available. Now I just need to figure out if I can do reports based on those custom fields…

Originally I had read the post and thought “webcalendar” but then Rong answered. The I refreshed and Rong answered again and in a few short words proved himself of having much more web knowledge. Then I refreshed again and saw he had more but I was dying to find what he was talking about so I refreshed again and saw the link.

At the end I realized that if I have a problem the only right thing to do is email Rong.

Rong is the bombdiggity. Anyone who holds back the props just needs to get a clue . Going with Rong is a win-win - he’ll definitely pimp out whatever gig you’ve got going.
