TG - Cool that your family sings hymns together. That sounds like one of those things we'd like to do(in theory) but never actually get around to promoting. :) It might help if we sang more hymns at church as well.

I'll try to get you an MP3 of "Come Ye Sinners". I think you'll like it.

I don't know if you remember me, but my name is Reon, and I used to be a blogger on this site... :O)

I just wanted to add that I saw Ratatouille with my niece (4) and nephew (7). He loved it, she wasn't too thrilled, though. It was "too loud" for her. I thought it was a very clever movie, though, and feel safe recommending it, as long as you don't mind the fact that there is a LOT of wine drinking (though I don't remember any drunkenness).

As for teenage music, we get to hear a lot of what our high school youth group listens to, and they seem to love the only-slightly-edgier Christian music, like Switchfoot and Kutless. Granted, on their Facebook pages they list a lot of artists I've never heard of, but they also like a lot of the "old" stuff like Simon & Garfunkel, as well as many Christian artists, like Rich Mullins and Jars of Clay. They're not necessarily doomed to liking the general filth that's tried to be passed as music these days. (I can't believe I'm less than 30 and saying that already! Either I'm getting too old or the music is just that bad...we'll go with the latter.) :O)

Well, High School Musical is done and we managed to survive. It actually wasn't too bad. The boy-girl stuff(nothing bad) was maybe a little much for their age but the general gist was your basic value of friendship storyline.

They wanted to stay up and watch the new Hannah Montana episode but I nixed that. I think they still love me... :)

Lynn - The girls saw Ratatouille with their grandmother and from all reports it was a ht. We're considering Underdog as well.

Milly - I think I saw that the music for HSM2 was available for free download. May have to look into that. No Hannah Montana music though.

I enjoy Fernando Ortega a great deal, so thanks for this little story!

My 8 year old is at a sleepover with one of her friends, and they are having a "High School Musical 2" night.

Brian, now don't get that face! My 18 year old is upstairs watching it, and if there's anything in it she needs to debrief my 8 year old about, I'm sure she will do it.

As for me, I don't think I'm interested in watching the rest of it.

My 8 year old liked "Night at the Museum" a lot, and I hope to take her to see "Ratatouille," and I'll have to look into "Underdog."

But y'all can fill me in on "High School Musical 2."

One of the things that has brought us great joy is singing hymns together. Our (first) copy of the Trinity Hymnal is well worn, and so we bought more copies (with the idea that as the boys grow up and move out they'll have their "own" hymal to bring with them. . .) I love singing this hymn with them.

Thanks for posting the F. Ortega clip, especially since you just mentioned him on my blog and I wasn't connecting the name to the sound.

My daughter is seven and hooked on High School Musical she’s going to watch this new one on the big screen. We get to listen to the music and to Hannah Montana cranked up a lot. It could be worse so we go along with it. My teen doesn’t do that much with music except in the car and it’s stuff like Casting Crowns. You never know what they’ll grown in to wanting.

J-Mom & Brian,
I think the music you fear is already seeping its way into our house. I'll be gone tomorrow night, so Daddy gets the "joy" of watching the premier of High School Musical 2 with the girls. ;) Honestly, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing the movie with them. I thought the first one was cute. But Brian, on the other hand, is going to be looking a bit like that photo. :D
