Finally, some snow

Posted on February 27, 2008 by Brian

Some of you northern folk may scoff but a 3″ snow down here in Tennessee is nothing to sneeze(or shiver) at. But didn’t we have twice as many snows that were twice as deep when I was a kid? Or is that my 40yo brain playing tricks on me again? No matter, we’ll just enjoy this one while we have it.

The picture below is off our back patio last night and the snow is still falling. A little fuzzy cuz I took it sans tripod but not too bad. You can click for a slightly larger version.

Okay, we’ve managed to pack in as much snow stuff as possible today. So far we have:

-made snow angels
-attempted to make a snowman (too powdery)
-had a snowball fight (S3 is a sneaky kid…)
-sled (what’s the past tense of sled?) down the hill in the back yard
-walked to the neighbors to invite them to play
-made snow cream (I think it was the best I’ve ever made. I don’t get to practice it often…)
-made cookies with the kids (Thanks to Grandma for the cookie kits!)

And right now it’s snowing even more with an expected 1-2″ to add to the 3.5″ we already have!!! We’re planning to head out again after naps. We’ll do popcorn and hot chocolate in front of the fire when we come in. We’re finding it a little hard to pace ourselves. We normally don’t get more than one play period in the snow before it’s a melty, slushy mess ’round these parts. :D

Let it snow!!!

Congratulations on getting real snow. 1.5 hours away, and we get zip. Well, we did get some flurries and a very light dusting, but it hardly counts as snow. It’s already all melted. Of course, I guess with a baby on the way any day now, I should be glad there’s no snow to interfere with my trip to the hospital, huh?

Eat some snow cream for me!

JP - Sorry, man. I guess the only choice I have is to post some more photos to rub it in share the love even more. :) Stay tuned…

Reon - My parents live an hour the other direction and all they got was a light dusting as well. But as you said, maybe it’s for the best. Now don’t forget, spring break starts next week for us so you have to have the baby then. You do have control over that, right?

We got a half inch or so. I think I’m further north than you, so I don’t understand and am feeling a little jealous!

Enjoy! Jenn, I used to make snow ice cream when the kids were little…we lived in the mountains then and got lots of snow every winter. Snow with children is so much fun.

Enjoy!

I’ll do everything in my power to make that happen just for you, Brian. :)

Kathy - Yeah, you’re further north but I guess it just depends on where it’s coming from. My weatherbug of a wife could probably explain it a little better. :)

Reon - Good. Glad we got that settled.
