Steve,
I said in an earlier comment that I could have several cardboard testimonies. Yours is one of them I can relate to a little too easily. ;) What would the other side of your cardboard say?

I don't know yet what I would put on the cardboard -- there's so much.

"Without God - a Lost, Vile, Self-Seeking Person"

"Recipient of His Unmerited Favor, and Washed Clean by the Blood of Jesus"

That would be accurate.

I, too, was moved when I saw this on Sandy's blog today.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. I agree with Brian that this sort of thing should be encouraged more often in our churches. I think one of the reasons the Christian blogosphere appeals to me is that it is an easier place to be transparent.

I also agree that I have many cardboard testimonies (I love that!), but no matter what our testimony may be, we are all testifying to the greatness of the same God, who knows us, where we have been, and where we are going. Confessions of His greatness and sovereignty always give us hope and help re-focus our perspective. At least they do for me. I hope they do for you, too. God is sooo good!

I wish you had some more comments on this, Jenn.

What struck me is that these people were in an environment where they could share these kinds of things. Now I know some of the "testimonies" weren't exposing deep, dark secrets(and that wasn't the purpose, I know) but some of them were sharing stuff that just doesn't get mentioned in a lot of churches. That was pretty cool.

One of the many mine could be :

Working to keep myself "in" God's grace -> Accepting what Christ did on my behalf
