JP - Yeah, I was a little nervous to try it but everything went quite well. The biggest problem I've had so far is related to the 2.6 upgrade itself, not that specific plugin. It seems that your category names and descriptions can get wiped out during the upgrade. I was able to find an explanation and a fix here. It's a little time consuming but it works. In one of the later comments on the post, the author says he thinks the bug will be fixed in 2.6.1.

Other than that, the problems I've found so far have all been related to plugins/widgets being out of date or hacks that I made.

Hope your upgrade goes well when you decide to do it!

Sweet! After being at version 2.2 for a long time on our personal blog, it was nice to see this easy way to upgrade.

Thanks for the tip!

My birthday is 2 weeks before Christmas. I used to get the one gift, and was told it was for both occasions. That seemed really cool 'till I was about 10, then I figured out I was being jipped. I understand the dilema.

BTW - they sell blank cakes.

Hi, Clark!
I feel the need to explain the "need" for half-birthday stuff. Our son's birthday is a few days before Christmas. We decided very early on that it would be fun to celebrate his half-birthday in order to keep it more about the celebration of him, and less swallowed up in the holiday. (And it's fun to have a summer b-day. All the rest of us have fall b-days in our family.) So on his actual birthday, he gets one (smallish) gift from Mom and Dad and he gets to choose what we have for dinner, but all other celebrations and gifts, etc. occur in June. If he ever decides that he'd prefer things the other way around, we'll be glad to switch back, but for now it works for us.

I have to admit that this is not my original idea. I have no idea where I heard about half-birthdays, but since we've been doing his parties in June, we have several other friends who have begun to do the same thing. I even have a friend who is considering doing half parties for her kids because they have summer birthdays, and it's hard to get school friends together during the summer for a party.

All that is to say that I firmly believe there is a growing market out there if someone is interested...

Next we could sell un-birthday cards and supplies!

You see, most of the world accuses the card companies of "making up" bogus holidays just to sell more cards and flowers. Things like Secretary Day, or Grandparents Day. Those didn't use to be days. (Some guys aren't so sure about Valentine's Day.) Any day the bank and post office are open aren't "real" holidays. You're the first person I know of that's ask them to throw in one they haven't thought of yet.

...but if this takes off, my half birthday is June 11th.
